back on the road

It's been nearly one year away from Lesotho. I can hardly imagine we are going back out again.

It took us almost 5 months to get things ready, and a lot is still not done, but tomorrow we will be setting out once again to the "Mountain Kingdom", this time I am going on behalf of RRA (Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter) and Article 25 (previously known as A4A), to start work on an exciting new build project for K4L (kick for Life).

This blog is aimed at keeping friends and family informed about this new trip, but also it is to serve as a tool to keep our team back in Oslo up to date with the progress of the trip and the project.

Tin can


Another day in suits, more meetings! We are still going around in our nice jackets trying to get support from all stakeholders and partners involved.

A job which can some times detracts us from the architectural task at hand, but that has to be done, and is getting done!

We also visited some existing buildings and sport facilities so that the whole team could have a better understanding of some of the conditions and possibilities around.

However the most inspiring construction of the day must have been the tin can houses! A series of houses and small constructions made out of thousand of tin cans knit together and then with a roof on top. Not the type of system we were hoping to use for the centre but inspirational nevertheless!
